SUMMARY:

This dissertation results from a study developed in the Professional Master's Degree in Literature (PROFLETRAS), offered by the Federal Rural University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRRJ). It focuses on the production of reading and textual production strategies with an emphasis on the prior knowledge of young adult education students in the municipal network of Rio de Janeiro. The strategies presented in this work seek to confront the tradition of school-based teaching of writing, which is marked by practices disconnected from the historical-cultural reality of students, which becomes a barrier to the acquisition of reading and textual production skills in Young Adult Education. Therefore, the general objective is to develop a literary literacy project for teaching reading and textual production to EJA students, in the literacy stage, based on the literary work of Cora Coralina. The specific objectives are: a) to explore the textual and stylistic characteristics of Cora Coralina's poems with a view to expanding literary literacy; b) to apply reading comprehension activities in a contextualized and meaningful way; c) to work on the process of activating prior knowledge for the development of the construction of meaning of the text; d) to develop the enjoyment of reading literary texts as a form of expression and social emancipation; e) to encourage students' initial written production through oral practices linked to the student's reality. The theoretical framework was anchored in Solé's (1998) teaching of reading, in which the ability to understand and autonomously interpret written texts is the essential instrument for full development in the context of a literate society, in the conception of popular education with a liberating orientation in the light of Paulo Freire (2021) who presents a critical-democratic literacy approach, in Kleiman (2004) approach to literacy, in the proposal for literary literacy and the expanded sequence method advocated by Cosson (2022), who proposes a new conception of working on teaching literature among other theorists . The methodological approach was developed based on Thiollent's (2011) action research method, which considers the collaborative and participatory involvement of researchers and participants to be important for solving a collective problem. The research reveals that the teaching-learning process of reading and writing based on literary texts, taking into account students' prior knowledge and anchored in oral activities, enables a transformation of reality and expands literary literacy.
