SUMMARY:

In Brazil, solid waste treatment is still considered a problem for society, despite the creation of relevant legislation with the objective of eradicating illegal and inadequate places (dumps and controlled landfills) for solid waste treatment. Without the extinction of these places, even in the country, the leachate, waste generated through the decomposition of organic matter in waste disposal sites, becomes an important contaminant to the environment, and must be treated to carry out its disposal in nature, mitigating environmental impacts generated by this waste. In this way, we seek to find an effective and viable method to solve this problem. In this research project, current information and data regarding the characterization of the membranes used for treatment will be used, the efficiency of each membrane in relation to some contaminants, as well as mapping the Brazilian landfills that use this type of technology for the treatment of leachate. For this, they will be used as methods and applications, in order to carry out a global bibliometric study, generating data and indications on the treatment of landfill leachate by membrane separation processes, in addition to programs for the preparation of georeferenced maps.
