RESUMO:

The pollution and contamination of soil and groundwater, mainly caused by gas stations, oil spills, improper disposal of waste, dumps, improper disposal of effluents, among other factors, have been growing uncontrollably in Brazil and worldwide. The desired scenario for the management of contaminated areas has not yet been implemented in the country, although the first cases of contaminated areas emerged in the 1980s. Within this scenario, studies on the valuation of environmental damage caused have been made. Regarding the environmental agencies, few are those that treat the issue as a priority or that have been minimally structured to meet the demands that arose and to fulfill the obligations set out at the federal level by Resolution Conama 420, 2009. Thus, the goal of this study is to study and evaluate environmental damage valuation methods and, based on these analyzes and studies, to propose an environmental damage valuation model, because even if remediation techniques are applied in these areas, they have not returned to their original characteristics, or that is, before man's action. The valuation methodology adopted and discussed was that of the State Department of Natural Resources Protection (DEPRN), which presents a very simple application and basically consists of the use of a table and a table. The method was considered adequate for the valuation of areas contaminated by gas stations, including the ease of application.
