SPATIAL VARIABILITY OF SOIL QUALITY INDICATORS IN AN AREA UNDER ORGANIC CULTIVATION
Organic agriculture, spatial variability, sustainability.
The cultivation from the organic system has been expanding in the world agricultural production scenario. Organic management presents a new perspective to make viable production using practices that allow the farmer high productivity reconciled with environmental, social, economic sustainability and high quality food production. The practice of organic agriculture allows improvements in the physical and chemical attributes of the soil, besides favoring its conservation. Within this context, the objective of this work was to evaluate the soil quality under organic cultivation of vegetables and agroforestry system by analyzing the spatial variability of physical and chemical attributes and the preparation of management maps. Deformed and undisturbed soil samples for the evaluation of physical and chemical attributes were collected at depths of 0-10.0 and 10.0 to 20.0 m. The samples were collected at geo-referenced points to generate variability maps of quality parameters. The physical attributes of the soil were: soil size (Ds), particle density (Dp), total porosity (Pt) and chemical parameters: pH, Ca, Mg, Al, H + Al, P, Na and K. At the end of the project a characterization of the physical and chemical quality of the soil was obtained, geostatistical maps allowing the recommendation of practices located in the area of the organic garden of CTUR / UFRRJ, to increase the production of the area, preservation of environmental control and maintaining the integrity of the organic planting system.
