MUSEU VIVO DO SÃO BENTO: Práticas decoloniais na Baixada Fluminense
Patrimony, museum, memory, decoloniality, coloniality
The present work has two main objectives. The first is to demonstrate that the Museu Vivo do São Bento is an institution that operates from a decolonial perspective. In order to evaluate this hypothesis, we propose to analyze, based on a qualitative methodology, some of the statements of the museum's directors, part of the projects and exhibits developed, and the law that founded this institution. We will rely on thinkers such as Anibal Quijano, Maldonado-Torres, Catherine Walsh, Walter Mignolo, and Mário Chagas to discuss the notions of coloniality, decoloniality, and heritage. The second objective is to elaborate and test a pedagogical product to help teachers who want to visit the museum with their students. It will be designed in a classroom format, and will seek to build a way for the students to expand their notions of cultural goods and, at the same time, to collaborate in the fight against the coloniality that still exists in History teaching
