Assessment is a topic widely explored in academic productions and experienced daily in schools. Therefore, studying it combined with the teaching of history in the Early Years is extremely important for us to think about more meaningful educational practices in line with the classroom evaluation processes. Starting from the triad of evaluation, planning and curriculum, this work aims to contribute to reflections on “how to evaluate” in the municipality of Volta Redonda, based on teachers’ understanding of their evaluations within the history curriculum component and how students relate to moments specific evaluations of this component. The intention of this work is not denunciatory but rather propositional. The idea is to promote an analysis for Early Years teachers on the most common assessment instruments and present their possibilities or impossibilities for the student's full development in the history curricular component in line with studies on assessment and History Education. Thus, the work aims to contribute to the field of history assessment, highlighting the importance of thinking, from the Early Years, about the role of history in children's education.
