SUMMARY:

This project aims to examine the absence of the theme of slavery in eighth-grade History textbooks in Rio de Janeiro and compare historical instances of slavery in the nineteenth and twenty-first centuries. Through bibliographic studies, analysis of the Brazilian Constitution, textbook evaluations, and the use of various textual genres, we will conduct a narrative review to produce pedagogical materials facilitating interdisciplinary teaching of Portuguese Language and History. This material aims to foster historical awareness and critical thinking among students regarding contemporary and historical forms of slavery
