SUMMARY:

This proposal deals with the representation of Maria Firmina dos Reis in the teaching of history, to promote anti-racist education. It seeks to portray the leading role of a black woman, who, through her life and work, participated in the abolitionist cause in Brazil in the 19th century, when she defended the freedom and emancipation of the enslaved. Through the circle methodology, I seek to highlight the representation and writing of Maria Firmina dos Reis and its respective context for History Teaching with an approach to abolitionism, resistance, representativeness, the importance of memory through narratives, the practice of anti-racist education and the importance of continuing teacher training. As a purposeful dimension of the project, the preparation of four workshops, for continued training, through the biographical use and literature, with the approach of understanding and understanding the importance of an anti-racist practice to be developed in the school context.
