SUMMARY:

This work will have as its research proposal the teaching of History and ethnic-racial relations in the school space, with reference to Law 10.639/03, which established that content relating to the History of Africa and Afro-Brazilian Culture will be taught within the scope of the entire school curriculum of public and private basic education establishments, especially in the areas of Art, Literature and History, and which in 2008 was amended to Law 11,645, including the mandatory teaching of indigenous histories and cultures. For a long time, the History curriculum was Eurocentric and the history of black and indigenous peoples was not made visible, constituting a form of denial of ethnic-racial diversity and racism in Brazilian society. In the work, I present the problem that, even after 21 years of Law 10,639/03, school curricula still remain conservative and the few activities carried out at school are restricted to Black Consciousness Month, revealing not only the resistance of complying with the law, but also also gaps in the implementation and incentive for the law to actually be put into practice. The school is an environment of diversity, students and teachers bring their personal, social and cultural experiences, and in this universe of differences, racism can be observed in the daily lives of students and in the structure of the school space. In this perspective of reflections for the education of ethnic-racial relations in the school environment, the work aims to bring a proposal for the creation of pedagogical material that could serve as an aid in the ongoing training of History teachers at Colégio Estadual Jardim Meriti, as well as creating possibilities of dialogue with other areas of knowledge, promoting not only the expansion of the implementation of law 10.639/03, but also providing subsidies so that anti-racist education can be a practice for teachers in the school environment.
