The black presence in Litle Africa as a contribution to history classes on the outskirts of Rio de Janeiro
Little África, Local History, Passed Classes, ancestry
This project seeks to identify the black presence in Little África and how colonialist thinking acted on the History of Brazil, realizing how this has materialized in official projects to erase ancestry and a past contributions of blacks in the formation of the city of exploitation and difficulties, experienced in the port area of Rio de Janeiro and the silencing of the voices of local social groups which, according to Luiz Rufino (2017), need to be kept in a situation of subordination. Using field research, books, academic research and articles, I refute the traditional version imposed in some historical narratives and reproduced for a long time in schools, prioritizing a Eurocentric version of national history to the detriment of local history and black experiences. To achieve this objective, I propose to use the tour classes as a pedagogical tool to bring the themes and sensitive places of Little África closer to the historical knowledge of students from the communities of Guadalupe and Anchieta through the discovery of the voices of cultural and political resistance of characters from the region. and for visiting important places of memory present in this place, bringing the black presence and ancestry of the Little África and Valongo region.
