Adaptability of Traditional Tomato Varieties on Agroecological Properties in the Costa do Sol Region

The cultivation of traditional tomatoes has stood out in organic and agroecological production systems due to

 their genetic diversity, sensory characteristics and greater adaptation to sustainable practices. 

This work aims to evaluate the performance of five ancestral tomato varieties: 

Amarelo Buenos Aires, Cherry Cordan, Cherry Indigo Rose, Tai and Zebra Chocolate on five properties in the Costa do

 Sol region, in the municipalities of Maricá and Saquarema, each with 100 plants distributed in 20 individuals per 

variety. The parameters analyzed include number of fruits per bunch, weight of harvested fruits, total harvests, 

variety cultivation time, production per variety and productivity per property. It is expected to observe significant 

differences between varieties and properties, reflecting management practices and local agroecological characteristics. 

Lectures, field days and/or courses and/or workshops will be given as feedback for rural producers, technicians,

 students and curious people for training on topics related to agroecology, organic agriculture and the production 

of ancient tomatoes
