SUMMARY:

Artisanal fishing is a relevant economic activity of importance for the municipalities of the Fluminense coast. In addition to its economic importance, the social, cultural and environmental values intrinsic to artisanal fishing should be considered. Fishing as a productive and commercial activity is inserted in and subject to the transformations of the agri-food system, as well as family farming. When comparing these two activities, it can be observed that both are situated at the margin of the dominant economic and political power structure, and are vulnerable to transformations in the food industry, to get access to markets and to the impacts generated by the productivistconcepts of the hegemonic agri-food system. The industrialization of food production and the complex supply chain have caused adverse environmental impacts that contribute to the increase of the climate emergency and thebiodiversity collapse. Moreover,it is important to spotlight that the commercialization of artisanal fish is marked by the presence of salespeople, generating dependence between fishermen and intermediaries in flow production. This interdependencerelationship is reinforced by the bureaucratization of the health surveillance and inspection system, necessary for the commercialization ofanimal origin products. In this sense, it was chosen to develop this work using the theoretical-analytical input of the Localized Agri-Food Systems (LAFS) and Short Commercialization Circuits (SCC). As well, the secondarydata analysis generated by the Pescarte Census and other institutions related to fishing activity, in order to elaborate an outlook and understand theartisanal fishing production-distribution-consumption networks products in seven municipalities of the Fluminense coast. However, this research will seek better understand this relationship and propose marketing alternatives that allows the formation of a SCC that could be manage by the fishermen community, without the qualitycompromising of products offered to consumers. Thus, this research can contribute to the strengthening of the social organization of artisanal fishermen community, foment articulation and business between many social actors inserted in the territory, as, local public managers, in concept that they can create public policies in the way to expand the options for marketing the fish and contribute positively to increasing the income of workers. In addition to contributing to the regionalsustainable development of fishing activities in the region.
