Organic and agroecological production in the microregion of Três Rios, State of Rio de Janeiro: proposal for the creation of a database, enabling the consolidation and creation of new markets and public policies for the segment

Organic production has been expanding in Brazil, in general, and in the Três Rios micro-region of the State of Rio de Janeiro in particular, driven by a growing demand from markets and consumer appeal for healthy eating, as they value products without use. pesticides and respect for the environment. Agroecology and the practice of organic agriculture are opposed to the paradigms of conventional agriculture (industrial, intensive), seeking to integrate family agriculture and small producers with consumers (co-producers), promoting sustainable rural development and contributing to new social and economic, linking the countryside and the city. The general objective of this study is the survey, systematization and analysis of organic production, the marketing channels that sell these products, and the public policies of agroecology and organic production existing in the region. This work consists of a survey of conceptual aspects , descriptive and exploratory, following two stages: a) bibliographic and documental survey; b) construction of a monthly data collection methodology, both quantitative and qualitative, with identified organic producers. During the monthly survey, technical bottlenecks will also be identified for the correction of organic non-conformities by ATER. The expected results are: a) the panorama of organic production and main bottlenecks, the markets accessed and/or built by these actors, and the public policies of agroecology and organic production in the State of Rio Janeiro and in the municipalities of the Três Rios micro-region; b) draft/prototype of platform for collecting data on organic production to be presented to EMATER-RIO, Public and Private Institutions and to Society in general.
