Composting Organic Waste as an Environmental Education practice in public schools on the North Coast of RS

The objective of the work is to disseminate the practice of composting organic waste from selective collections in public school units on the north coast of RS as a pedagogical process aimed at environmental education for elementary school students.The project's actions go far beyond the adequate disposal of organic waste, using composting in the management of organic waste in the construction of the agroecological school garden and healthy eating.The dissertation will be organized and structured in 4 stages.awareness;practical activities;data collection and systematization and analysis of information.Using the methodology of action research in the participant observation modality.Awareness raising consists of holding meetings with school management to talk about the implementation of the project.Later, meetings will be held with teachers through presentations of images and videos of experiences related to the project theme.Talking about the Ecological Center's role in training and training on the treatment of organic waste, resulting in composting, producing compost for food production.The second stage, practical activities will be carried out with the involvement of students from kindergarten, primary and secondary education.Through conversations with children, showing videos and images of compost bins.I work with playful elements, characters, storytelling, music and didactic transcription.Written activity about organic waste and how we can use it in composting.The third stage of the research (fieldwork) will be carried out through interviews with semi-structured questionnaires (Appendix A), with the students and teachers who are involved.The fourth stage of the research will be the organization, systematization and analysis of the collected data.The organization will be carried out in tables, charts and graphs.
