SUMMARY:

The project aims to evaluate the agronomic efficiency of the liquid biofertilizer Vairo in the production of leafy vegetables, considering two application methods: soil and foliar spraying. Produced through anaerobic fermentation of fresh bovine manure diluted in water, Vairo results in an input rich in nutrients and beneficial microorganisms. The research will be carried out in three family production units, selected based on edaphoclimatic criteria, production systems, and the level of adoption of bioinputs. Activities will begin with a field day for the farmers’ practical training, followed by the implementation of experiments comparing different treatments, including applications of the biofertilizer via soil and foliar spraying, in addition to conventional fertilization. Parameters such as plant height, number of leaves, fresh and dry mass of shoots and roots, root volume, and pest incidence will be evaluated. Chemical analyses of the biofertilizer and soil will support specific technical recommendations for each production unit. The data collected will be subjected to statistical analysis to compare the efficiency of the treatments. In addition to field research, the project foresees the preparation of an illustrated technical booklet with guidelines on preparation, application, and benefits of the Vairo biofertilizer, aiming to expand its adoption in family farming. It is expected that the results will contribute to increased productivity, cost reduction, strengthening of agroecological practices, and the production of healthier foods with lower environmental impact.
