RESUMO:

The use of nature for therapeutic purposes is as old as mankind, being medicinal plants main resource. The therapeutic agents synthetized by plants, aim to prevent, cure and mitigate the symptoms of diseases at a lower cost than medicines obtained through chemical procedures. The production and commercialization of medicinal plants and their derivatives are gaining more and more importance in Brazil, due to its ample biodiversity and biocultural heritage. Therapeutic agents are derived from the secondary metabolism of plant species, which does not necessarily correlate to ideal conditions for the full development and crop yield. Therefore, the present work intends to deepen the knowledge, within the scope of the agricultural management system, determining the factors that influence the synthesis of therapeutic agents, as well as their interrelations so that it can advance the design of agroecosystems able to produce raw material with satisfactory concentrations of therapeutic agents. The research will be conducted using a participatory methodology with the Quilombola community Dona Bilina, located at the Maciço da Pedra Branca, Rio de Janeiro / RJ. Agroecosystem characterization, soil fertility analysis, associated microbiomes and phytochemical profile of the selected species will be carried out under contrasting management conditions, including conventional management for a comparative analysis. Plant material will be collected at other locals in the state of Rio de Janeiro than Maciço da Pedra Branca. Organic certified medicinal plants should be considered as a basic premise in order to obtain phytotherapics free of residues of pesticides and chemical fertilizers, even if there is no guideline established by the Ministry of Health. The results should provide a description of an agricultural management for the medicinal plant with good phytomass production and adequate concentrations of the active principle. In case of interest by the members of the community, a new cultivation will be conducted under the appropriate conditions described, followed by analysis to confirm the results.
