SUMMARY:
This study aims to analyze the role of the Food Acquisition Program, Purchase with Simultaneous Donation modality (PAA CDS) operated by CEASA/RJ, in strengthening organic family farming in the State of Rio de Janeiro in the period from 2013 to 2022. This This modality is characterized by the individual participation of the family farmer in institutional purchases from the Federal Government. To carry it out, an explanatory case study was chosen, using the tools of forms, semi-structured interviews, bibliographic research and document analysis. The study subjects will be organic farmers who supply/supplied products to the program during the study period, as well as representatives of extension bodies and representations of organic farmers from the state of Rio de Janeiro and Ceasa-RJ. Food acquisition reports generated by the program, official company documents relating to this partnership will be analyzed, as well as interviews with the study subjects. It is expected that this research will contribute to strengthening organic family farming by increasing its participation in this PAA modality in terms of number of producers, volume of food supplied and value of acquisitions. It is also expected to contribute to expanding access to organic food for the most socioeconomically vulnerable population in ERJ. It is also expected to contribute to the improvement of purchasing processes and to publicize the results of this important public policy in ERJ.
