SUMMARY:

Brazil is the third largest producer of corn (Zea mays) in the world, however, the production chain is very dependent on the import of agricultural inputs. In the region of Alto Rio Pardo de Minas, large amounts of pesticides and chemical inputs are used for corn cultivation, generating an unsustainable vicious cycle. Thinking about the preservation of flora and fauna, the maintenance of natural agroecosystems and the demand for the production of healthy foods, this study aims to promote corn production based on the enrichment of the rhizospheric microbiome achieved through inoculation with soil transplant (TS) from areas biologically balanced of corn and bean production and the addition of millicompost and compost from Escola Família Agrícola Nova Esperança (EFANE). Two experiments will be implemented during the summer season and the winter off-season with the corn variety Catingueiro: in an area with good corn productivity and another with low fertility soil. The design will be in randomized blocks composed of 7 treatments: (1) inoculation with TS; (2) addition of millicompost; (3) addition of EFANE compost; (4) inoculation with TS and addition of millicompost; (5) inoculation with TS and addition of EFANE compost; (6) addition of millicompost and EFANE compost; (7) inoculation with TS and addition of millicompost and EFANE compost; and a control. Each plot will consist of 16 plants, with four plants in the sampling area. The development rate of the corn plants will be analyzed biweekly and, before the R1 stage, the N, P and K foliar concentrations and the collection of rhizosphere soil samples for the analysis of microbiome. At the end of the cycle, fresh and dry biomass of shoots and roots and the production parameters will be determinde. The enrichment of the rhizospheric microbiome of corn can generate sustainable alternative practices that increase the productivity of the crop at the same time that meets the agricultural needs in a sustainable way.
