Evaluation of pepper accessions (Capsicum spp.) in terms of productive and market potential for family farming.
seeds; Capsicum spp.;
From germplasm banks, it is possible to study and experiment with species, so that, according to the desired purpose, replications and seed production are carried out to maintain the genetic material. Regarding the genus Capsicum, it is important to consider some characteristics such as: productivity, post-harvest storage time and pungency. These factors are important for the maintenance of the analyzed species, consumer market and type of public to be reached considering fresh consumption. In addition, study and define the shelf life of each variety and finally, define and implement seed demonstration units, for the purpose of species preservation. 04 main species were selected, considering the characteristics of productivity and precocity, primarily for experimentation in the field, in order to simulate the real conditions of cultivation. A completely randomized block design was considered, containing 4 main species and 6 additional varieties. 2 beds measuring 55 meters in length by 1.20 meters in width were made. The beds were divided into 4 main blocks and additional varieties were planted on the edges of the beds. In view of the above, this work aims to characterize the most adapted species and, therefore, more productive for cultivation suitable for family farming. The general objective of this project is to disseminate and insert the pepper culture in the context of family farming, preferably through evaluation by producers and consumers, and subsequent dissemination of seeds, with the purpose of expanding the opportunity of access to the market.
