SUMMARY:

Faced with the information age that we live in, plus reflections on teaching practices, it can be seen that the way of consuming information has changed, as well as the need for preparation and insertion of technologies in the school environment, prioritizing developing in the new student the attitude reflective and critical about the world in which it is inserted. This work aims to identify the potential of animation video production with the Stop Motion technique related to the theme of Cell Division, more precisely the process of mitosis and meiosis, in a Science, Technology and Society - CTS approach, observing the perception about themes related to genetics and its applications in everyday life. The research will be carried out in a workshop format, at the Escola Estadual de Ensino Fundamental Pedro Canário Ribeiro, located in Pedro Canário - ES, with students from the 8th and 9th grade of elementary school II. The methodological approach is qualitative and descriptive in nature, classified as a field study. Data collection will take place through oral, written and photographic records, the researcher's field diary and animations produced by the students. The records will be transcribed through critical reflection, being analyzed according to the thematic content analysis technique, grouped into units of Records and Contexts, for later organization of frequency charts and analyzes along with the theoretical support. The didactic-methodological strategy to be developed and applied with the participants, in addition to the theoretical framework of this research, will support the creation of a didactic pedagogical material with the suggestion of a didactic sequence on the content Mitosis and Meiosis in the STS approach and in Freire's principles, with guidelines for the use and production of Stop Motion animation in science teaching. The educational product will be aimed at basic education teachers and will be made available free of charge in the main databases across the country.
