SUMMARY:

This research approach a pedagogical proposal for mathematics classes in high school that dialogue with social inequality in Brazil and the programs social programs of income transfer from the perspective of Critical Mathematics Education (EMC). After a bibliographic and documentary research, it seeks to develop and suggest activities, through a Didactic Sequence, that assist teachers with the teaching of Functions and Statistics in a contextualized way, with social inequality in Brazil as its theme. The goal is to ensure meaningful, critical and reflective learning for students. This research is justified from the need to think possibilities for the teaching of mathematics that would contribute to citizen formation in a critical and responsible way in the construction of a more just, democratic and egalitarian society. Thus, the following question arises: what is the relevance of Critical Mathematics Education in Basic Education, taking into account its forms of application from the perspective of the social inequality? With regard to methodology, analyzes were carried out based on the triangulation method, which will work with the dimensions: (1) Document analysis; (2) Participant observation as a school teacher (teacher-researcher) and (3) Students' speeches and records during the application of the Didactic Sequence. The Didactic Sequence in question was applied in a 1st grade class, in the context of New High School, in a private school located in the West Zone of Rio de Janeiro. It was noticed in the research when developing reflective activities in the classroom that, despite the Social Transfer Programs being of paramount importance for Brazilian society, they have suffered harsh criticism over the years, mainly from the public that does not receive the aid or from the public that does not know any beneficiaries due to the lack of knowledge about the objectives and conditionalities of the Programs.
