PERSPECTIVES AND TRANSFORMATIONS: IMPACTS OF THE BNCC ON ACADEMIC RESEARCH AND PEDAGOGICAL PRACTICES OF BIOLOGY TEACHERS IN SEROPÉDICA/RJ
BNCC; Pedagogical practices; Natural Sciences; Curriculum. This paper presents an investigation into the implementation of the Brazilian National Common Curriculum Base (BNCC-EM) and its impacts on research and pedagogical practices of Biology teachers in the municipality of Seropédica/RJ. Since its approval in 2018, few studies have been developed to understand how pedagogical practices have been impacted. Therefore, this research aimed to analyze how the BNCC has been implemented in state public schools in the municipality of Seropédica, identifying and characterizing its impacts on academic research, perceptions about its adoption, and how this is reflected in teaching practices. To understand these impacts, a qualitative approach was adopted, combining an exploratory literature review and semi-structured interviews conducted with teachers from the state network. The dissertation is organized in a multi-paper format, with articles that dialogue with each other but allow for independent reading. Bardin's Content Analysis methodology was used for data analysis, both to understand what has been addressed in academic research and to understand the teachers' perspectives. The results of the literature review highlight discussions about the impacts of the BNCC (National Common Core Curriculum) on the curricular structure, approaches, content, and teaching programs, as well as on teachers, students, and the construction of scientific knowledge. The results of the interviews reveal perceptions about the curricular changes imposed by the BNCC, highlighting tensions, contradictions, and ambiguities in its implementation. Impacts related to the organization by competencies and skills, the fragmentation and reduction of curricular content, pedagogical practices, teachers' working conditions, and the students' learning process stand out, in addition to perceptions about the disconnect between curricular proposals and school reality. It is hoped that this research will contribute to broadening discussions about the effects of the BNCC implementation in the school context, giving visibility to the perceptions and experiences of Biology teachers in the face of ongoing curricular transformations, as well as contributing to critical reflections on educational policies and their unfolding in pedagogical practices and human development.
