The present work aims at investigating the potentialities of the tools commonly found in Virtual Learning Environments (AVA) for learning, based on dialogue, collaboration and mediations carried out by tutors / teachers and their interactions in a continuing education course for teachers from the State of Rio de Janeiro. Evaluate if the updating course contributes, in the eyes of the cursist teachers, to help in the search of new ways in the teaching of Molecular Biology. To that end, a qualitative and quantitative follow-up of the textual production of the students in the forums during the moments of interaction and in the accomplishment of collaboration tasks for the construction of course plans through "peer evaluation" was sought. This allows not only the verification of the level of interaction and collaboration developed in each of the tools, but also the observation of the quality of the texts of the trainees, their relevance with the subject discussed and allowed for unfolding for future discussions. The analysis of the speeches by the students in the forums followed a system of categories based on the model of Mortimer and Scott (2003). A questionnaire containing open and closed questions was applied with the objective of collecting information about previous experiences and the profile of the trainees, in addition to evaluating the AVA, taking into consideration the tools used, the degree of interaction and collaboration, the methodology used and their contribution in terms of conceptual, procedural, and attitudinal changes with search for new approaches in the teaching of Molecular Biology. The present study can also say a lot about the quality of the material used, the type of didactic model adopted in the AVA, as well as the epistemological basis and the methodology used during the course. As an educational product we propose the elaboration of a lesson script (action script) that will be used in conjunction with the VMD (Visual Molecular Dynamics) program that allows the visualization of biological molecules like DNA in a three-dimensional space. The script will be structured following the teaching methodology of the three pedagogical moments of Delizoicov and Angotti (2000) and will be incorporated into the teacher refresher course in its next edition.
