SUMMARY:

The present research discusses the importance of including deaf students in higher education, specifically in mathematics classes, offering emphasis from the perspective of the subjects involved. It presents a history of the theme where it brings the definition of some articles, laws, declarations and other documents that address the theme. Believing that the inclusion of deaf students in higher education is a recent issue that deserves attention with regard to education, arguments will be sought to collaborate with this inclusion. The purpose of the methodology is a qualitative research, using as instruments the semi-structured interview (MINAYO, 2011; TRIVIÑOS, 1987; MANZINI, 1990/1991) with teachers, interpreters and deaf students from UFRRJ with the support of the Accessibility and Inclusion Center. from UFRRJ (NAI/UFRRJ). Data analysis is supported by the responses conceived by the interviewees, seeking to articulate with the bibliographic research carried out. Such research will be carried out, at first, in electronic format, virtually, through the tool provided by Google (Google Meet). The choice for this tool was made considering the various technologies that exist to reach those involved at low cost in a short time, and mainly due to the existing social isolation caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. The objective of this research is to seek relevant information about the inclusion of deaf students in higher education and also to contribute to the advancement of teaching in the area of mathematics, taking as an argument its importance for life in society and, in addition, to build the educational product of this research. the website “Inclusive Mathematics Education for Deaf Students”. It is true that public measures are already being taken in order to achieve a more inclusive education in higher education, but it is necessary to investigate whether they are really being thought of in the most appropriate way and achieved their objective. At the conclusion of the research, it is expected to perceive some contributions to the inclusion of deaf students in higher education in mathematics classes.
