THE USE OF PHOTOGRAPHY AS A DIDACTIC TOOL: ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION THROUGH A DIDACTIC SEQUENCE

Photography has been used as a pedagogical resource in several disciplines, due to its potential for association between oral and visual language. Its possibilities of use can overcome the physical barriers of the classroom, contributing to a more critical, dynamic and pleasurable work. The aim was do evaluate the environmental perception of a group of students through photographs that portrayed environmental problems of the municipality. In a second moment it was verified the potential of photography as a didactic-pedagogical tool. The research is classified as qualitative, under the method of participant observation, through the interaction between the teacher and the students in the school environment through a didactic sequence. The work was carried out with a group of students of the second segment of elementary school. The group is composed of twenty students of the Joaquim de Macedo State College, located in Barra do Piraí-RJ. The research revealed it was found that students consider trash as the biggest and most uncomfortable of social and environmental problems, citing still the pollution of rivers by direct dumping of sewage, besides the noise pollution. The didactic sequence proved to be a good way to organize the proposed activities and photography allowed the exploration of the environment through the environmental perception of the students and was confirmed as an interesting didactic-pedagogical resource to be used in the construction of knowledge.
