RESUMO:

The approach of socio-scientific issues has been recommended in the curricula of Science Education due to its potentialities in the school context. Research argues that their discussion in the classroom makes scientific learning more relevant and meaningful, as it favors the articulation of scientific knowledge with daily knowledge. However, teachers have reported difficulties in addressing these issues due to a fragmented and uniquely disciplinary training that limits the discussion of themes associated with different areas of knowledge. Thus, the present work aims to pedagogically stimulate the teaching of science, in the second segment of the Elementary School, of Youth and Adult Education (YAE), through the focus on socio-scientific issues, in the city of Barra do Piraí. Therefore, the methodology used has a qualitative nature and exploratory character, being the data collection performed through documentary research. As a result of the investigations, it will be elaborated a guide of activities for the teaching of Sciences, based on socio-scientific issues, with curricular contents from the 6th to the 9th grade of YAE Elementary School. Therefore, it is hoped that this work will subsidize the pedagogical practices of teachers, in the treatment of controversial issues associated with science in the social context, in order to contribute to a scientific education that considers the reality of students and that forms for the exercise of citizenship.
