SUMMARY:

Faced with many challenges that teachers have faced in their pedagogical practice, without a doubt, scientific and technological development brings with it consequences that must be carefully worked on in the school environment so that the teaching-learning relationship is not limited to just the transmission of theoretical contents. In this way, it is necessary for the teacher to diversify his way of teaching, always seeking to highlight the protagonism of his student, contributing to engagement and participation in his classes, with the aim of not only transmitting content, but generating significant and form citizens. To deal with all these issues, a powerful way is to use modeling, especially with biscuit dough, a manual tool that can contribute to learning concepts in science through didactic models, considering the relationship between micro perspectives and macroscopic, an aspect inherent to teaching and learning in science.  Considering these aspects, this study aims, through qualitative research, to investigate the contributions of a course on models and modeling of biological structures, in the process of training teachers in the initial years of Elementary School in a Pedagogy course at a public institution.  We believe that based on this proposal, teachers can be encouraged to create, through workshops, basic didactic models and throughout the process improve their technique, not only for personal use in class, but as an alternative for practical classes, since Pieces can be made according to the class theme, identifying in the piece what you want to achieve with the theoretical class.
