Digital Technologies in Teaching Trigonometry: Exploring Desmos in a Research-Formation with Prospective Mathematics Teachers
Digital technologies; Trigonometric concepts; Desmos; Online environment.
This dissertation aims to dialog with teachers and future teachers in discussions about the possibilities of innovation in teaching trigonometry concepts using digital technologies. The research maps studies on the use of technologies in teaching Trigonometry and develops and implements an environment in a subject in the Mathematics Undergraduate Program at the Federal Rural University of Rio de Janeiro. In addition to Desmos, devices such as tablets and smartphones were used in the implementation, which allowed other interactions, constructions, and visualizations to carry out the activities. This dissertation is in multipaper format and, to contemplate the specific objectives of the research, presents in its first article a meta-synthesis, in which the use of digital technologies in teaching Trigonometry was observed, but gaps in the integration of technologies in prospective teacher training were observed, including the use of Desmos. The second article identifies and verifies contributions of the environment based on the capture and analysis of critical events. The educational product is detailed in the third article, which presents a proposal for an environment focused on the initial training of mathematics teachers. The first part of the product explains the resources of the Desmos Classroom platform and, in the second, presents the tasks used in the implementation described in the second article.
