RESUMO:

By teaching science, it intends building meanings that, from them , the students, while agents of knowledges, may act in the society, developing autonomy to take decisions in a conscious  and critic way, when facing different collective or individual situations/problems. From this perspective, this research has the objective of analyzing a didactic sequential organization, as the theme Blood Groups and the ABO Blood Group System, as a way of emphasizing  signs of the students’ knowledge process, as construction of meanings in a context of interaction. The study is based theoretically in two principal axis of discussion; the first treats of Ausubel’s (2003) significant learning and complemented by the Engle and Conant’s (2002) Productive Disciplinary Engagement proposal and; the second was inspired in the scientific literacy that realizes itself on the articulation between schoolar’s scientific concepts to questions and situations that are present in the daily life. The research was realized with 8th grade students in a Municipal Public School, located in Porto Real, Rio de Janeiro and assumes the qualitative theoretical-methodological approach that is realized by the participant observation, once the classroom is a space of interaction between researcher (teacher) and the students. The data collection was given by video and audio records of all didactic sequence and written registers of students in a way of capturing the signs of the learning process in progress. It was also applied to a quiz to know the profile of the students. These set of data presents a predominant descriptive character,  has been realized transcriptions of discursive interactions that occurred the activities enabling the definition of the episodes oriented by categories inspired in the analytical matrix of Mortimer and Scott (2002). The data analysis gathered emphasized signs of a significant learning process, involving enlargement and further development of concepts related to the thematic –Blood Groups – from the anchorage of new ideas to previous knowledges mobilized and identified during the interactions that were realized between the teacher/researcher and the students. The study highlights the importance of an organized teaching methodology from a didactic sequence that using many tools, as videos and pictures, may provide a more pleasuring and dynamic teaching promoting the students’ engagements in activities giving place to the effectively significant learning processes.
