A CASE STUDY ON IRRATIONAL NUMBERS WITH LICENSORS IN MATH
Teacher training; Irrational NumbersThe approach of irrational numbers during school years in Basic Education is rich, usually has few examples, wich
oots √2 and √3 being the only ones Irrational numbers with radicals to display.
This project aims to carry out a research on Irrational Numbers of the form √n, 2 ≤ n <21.
A case study was proposed with students of the Mathematics Federal University of Baixada Fluminense.
In this sense, this research aims to discuss and analyze student filmed, recorded and written productions
about the construction of irrational numbers in a proposed context of activities in order to make a material that is
accessible to math teachers and proposes an alternative to approach to the same.
The research methodological procedures are: survey bibliographic analysis, elaboration and implementation
of activities of irrational numbers, which based on the Video Analysis methodology.
Data collection will be performed daily by researcher's field, video recording of meetings and audio.
The analysis seeks identify how students interpret and solve the situations presented about irrational numbers
The research foresees two great moments: the first, in which understand about irrational numbers
from the built tasks; the second comprises, from the analysis, the production of a didactic guide for teachers.
