RESUMO:

This paper aims to verify and analyze the changes of local cultural identity at the Elmo Baptista Coelho Municipal School, located in the neighborhood of Ilha da Madeira, Itaguaí / RJ, after the insertion of several industries and mega-enterprises that have been transforming the local identity both geographically. as economically and educationally. This is an ethnographic research, in which analyzes will be made based on the Triangulation method, which will work with the dimensions: documentary analysis, semi-structured interviews and non-participant observation. After ethnography, a proposal for a didactic sequence will be created as an educational product whose objective is to point out projects for the math classes, as well as the other curricular components, so that the local cultural activities of Madeira Island, especially activities focused on artisanal fishing, are valued at school with the aim of preserving and rescuing their local identity and establishing relationships with school mathematics by giving it more social meaning.
