SUMMARY:

This research aims to analyze possibilities of using the Tower of Hanoi in a remote teaching and learning environment. For that, we planned a didactic design containing an environment of classes developed with varied exploration activities of different Tower of Hanoi applications, to analyze the data obtained from this exploration. The methodology consists of an exploratory pedagogical intervention with digital technologies. Fieldwork was carried out (in 2021) in a discipline (Mathematics Teaching II) with propective mathematics teachers at Federal Rural University of Rio de Janeiro. Seven meetings were planned and implemented on the Google Meet platform, with the aim of exploring the Tower of Hanoi in applications with screen touches so that future teachers would understand the diversity of approaches to this resource and be inspired to use it in their practice. Data were produced from written responses, diaries, motion capture in the screen recorder application, and other screen recording applications, handouts and other resources to develop the activities. Through this experience, it was possible to verify that the use of the digital Tower of Hanoi in the remote environment is feasible and can be powerful, since the undergraduates were able to build knowledge collaboratively throughout the meetings. In addition to the development of the educational product at the end of the dissertation in an appendix, we proposed a didactic sequence using the Tower of Hanoi from the readings of a dissertation located in the Catalog of Theses and Dissertations of Capes.
