RESUMO:

The present research is based on the elaboration of activities, in its implementation and in the analysis of the geometric learning of students from the 8th grade of middle School in the city of Rio de Janeiro. The research emphasizes the importance of language in the construction of mathematical thinking and analyzes the development of mathematical thinking in a teaching practice that values writing, speaking and interaction in paper activities and with the use of GeoGebra in smartphones. It seeks to emphasize the importance of language in the construction of mathematical thinking. Data collection was done through the researcher's diary, activity sheet, screen print and video recording. The analysis is guided to the construction of concepts related to parallel lines cut by a transversal line. The implementations were divided in two great moments: probing on the terms: "alternate", "collateral" and "corresponding"; and the construction and manipulation of figures through GeoGebra, using the students' own smartphones aiming the analyzes of the properties on the behavior of angles and lines. As a challenge the study points out the students' lack of habit in carrying out activities that use writing and constant reflections on them. As a contribution, it emphasizes the use of the GeoGebra App and the smartphone as motivating and challenging resources for the class and its learning. The dynamicity of the software allows, besides articulated observations of the concepts foreseen in the tasks, other unexpected ones, for example, the one of complementary angles. The research highlights the importance of interactive and dynamic classes with the use of software and various activities in Middle School. As an educational product the research generated two online educational curricular materials for teachers addressing aspects of the content of parallel lines cut by a transversal one.
