SUMMARY:
The work addresses the contribution of affectivity and the development of interdisciplinary projects for students in the 6th year of elementary school, focusing on the transition between the initial and final years as well as the learning difficulties exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic. The research investigates how active methodologies and storytelling can create a more welcoming and effective educational environment, promoting meaningful learning. To achieve this objective, the research proposes to investigate the influence of affectivity in mathematics teaching, with an emphasis on the implementation of active methodologies and storytelling. This approach aims to mitigate the challenges faced by students during the transition from the initial to the final years of Elementary School and the functional illiteracy aggravated by the post-pandemic context. Furthermore, the study aims to develop an educational product that strengthens practical interaction and student engagement. The methodology adopted is qualitative in nature, using data triangulation through the analysis of documents, questionnaires and the author's participant observations in her classes. The study will be conducted with two 6th year classes at a municipal school in Guapimirim-RJ, where data collection will take place through descriptions of the projects carried out and anonymous questionnaires that will explore the relationship between the students and the teacher, and author of this research, as well as the impact of projects on learning. The choice of the theme "affection in education" arises from the author's personal experiences, who experienced the positive impact of affectionate teachers throughout her academic career. Based on these experiences, the author believes that affection in the classroom is fundamental for student engagement and success, creating a welcoming and humanized environment. However, mathematics education in Year 6 faces significant challenges, exacerbated by the pandemic. School closures have hampered literacy and increased reading and writing difficulties, while students, transitioning into adolescence, deal with emotional issues and lack of interest in classes. In this sense, the research investigates affectivity as an effective way to improve mathematics learning. The theoretical framework explores the relationship between affectivity and learning, highlighting the importance of affect in cognition. It is based on the National Common Curricular Base (BNCC), Child and Adolescent Statute (ECA) and authors such as Silva (2022) and Cesar Coll (1988). In addition to bringing relevant authors such as Mattos (2021) who discuss the relevance of affection in the educational context. Furthermore, it addresses functional illiteracy and its implications, referencing INAF and UNICEF, and analyzes active methodologies and storytelling as strategies to engage students. It is also based on the theories of Wallon (1995), Piaget (1977) and Vygotsky (1998). Finally, the research aims to demonstrate that affection, combined with interdisciplinary projects, active methodologies and storytelling, can improve mathematics learning among 6th year students. The results are expected to highlight the importance of considering emotional and social aspects in teaching-learning, especially in challenging contexts such as those experienced after the pandemic.
