The present work is a qualitative research, whose focus is to analyze the use of the social network Facebook as a pedagogical tool capable of helping the students of the first year of high school to a collaborative learning to reach the competences foreseen in the program of the discipline of Biology in parents. The research aims to identify the pedagogical and educational potential of the social network Facebook in the teaching of biology. To develop a pedagogical strategy appropriate to a type of collaborative learning in teaching and learning in the discipline of Biology in the first year of high school. According to Denzin and Lincoln (2006), qualitative research; "Involves a naturalistic, interpretive approach to the world", in this context researchers study and observe events in a given scenarios, seeking to understand, or interpret, the phenomena in terms of the meaning that participants certify to them, for that research scenario is the group "BIOLOGIA, Curtindo e Aprendendo" on the social network Facebook. It is expected that the use of Facebook as a pedagogical tool, or as a virtual learning environment in the teaching of biology in the first year of high school, provide subsidies to the teacher to reach an innovative pedagogical practice in a more interactive and participatory context; reestablish relationships between teacher and students on a new basis, more reflective, critical, understanding and collaborative; and develop new criteria of evaluation, fairer to the reality of the school and students, and especially to their possibilities, their becoming.
