SUMMARY:

The interest in developing this research is due to the intention of minimizing, within the classroom, the gap between school knowledge and popular knowledge, and valuing the different ways of doing mathematics present in the daily and traditional practices of the families of students from a class of the 6th year of Elementary School, bringing their realities inside the school walls. By considering the student's first knowledge and his reality - "mathema", his family environment - the "ethno", his daily life with mathematics - "tica", this work is a proposal for the construction of knowledge based on the culture of the environment where live. As it is a field of study of interaction between mathematics and culture, Ethnomathematics is a theoretical contribution, based on the thoughts of D'Ambrosio (2015), seeking to highlight the knowledge of the student and his family about the cuisine practiced is its own and bring it closer/dialogue with it/relate it to school knowledge worked in the classroom, since we perform different maths at all times, following or not the academic practices. It aims to elaborate and analyze the application of a didactic sequence in the search for the (re)meaning of the concept of fraction, presented as a final product, with the purpose of helping teachers of mathematics and other areas to value the ethnomathematics present in family culinary practices. of their students, in order to reinforce the preservation of the cultural identities of these actors, since mathematics is a social and cultural product and should be explored in the classroom under this aspect. The contribution to the students is the acceptance, recognition and appreciation of their own knowledge, giving them a voice, encouraging them to share their experience and, through this collective exchange, they can discover that their knowledge can add to that of others and together develop new knowledge, thus allowing their engagement in the teaching and learning process in a contextualized and meaningful way. The research developed is of an applied nature, with a qualitative approach with ethnographic, exploratory characteristics and uses participant observation, semi-structured interviews and document analysis as data collection instruments, having as analysis the investigation by data triangulation.
