Anticomunism as a geopolitical code: the case of Bolsonaro's Government (2019-2022)

In 2018, the election of Jair MessiasBolsonaroto the Presidency of the FederativeRepublic of Brazilmarked the riseofthepopulistrightinthecountry.Theresult of the electoraldisputeresultedin the resurgence of anti-communismatthecenterofthepoliticaldebate.Withimplicationsfornational policy andforeignpolicy, anti-communism, alliedtoBolsonarism,wasthekeynoteoftheBolsonarogovernment(2018–2022).Inthissense,ourresearchaimstoinvestigatehowanti-communism wasoperationalizedasageopoliticalcodebyBolsonarism.Atfirst, we approach the theoretical paths of geopoliticswith the purpose of insertingourresearchinthisfield,thenwepresentthetheoreticalfoundationoftheconceptofgeopoliticalcode.Therescue of theorigin of anticommunism in history, the way the right in WesterncapitalistcountriesandBrazilundertooktheiranti-communistcampaignsduring the ColdWar, as wellas the ideologicalmatrices of anticommunisminBrazilarepresentedwiththepurposeofdemonstratingitsgeneralpanorama.Inaddition, we list the steps that ourresearchwillstillcarry out, sothatwecanunderstand the anti-communistpoliticalaction in foreign and domesticpolicy,particularlyin the relationshipbetweenBrazilandChinaduringtheBolsonarogovernment.
