SUMMARY:

Projections in studies on the growing evolution of cities, with their variations in geographic spaces and specific forms of anthropization, need to reveal the processes of production and transformation of the landscape, in order to discuss how they are constituents of the climate, adding to climate variability. This study analyzes the neighborhoods Vila de Cava and Tinguá, in the municipality of Nova Iguaçu (NI), Rio de Janeiro (RJ), which make up and are part of the region of conservation units: ReBio Tinguá, full protection; APA Tinguá, for sustainable use; a place that presents a state of equilibrium in the spatial temperature of its environments, a factor that can be perceived by people according to the variables of the environment, the physical and psychological factors that are found, and can be characterized as thermal comfort or discomfort by the population of points of analysis: E.M. Professor Irene Silva Oliveira; E.M. Jardim Montevideo; E. M. Vale do Tinguá and E. M. Barão de Tinguá, thus configuring a problem. As a hypothesis: can it be inferred that, even with the perception of thermal discomfort felt by the inhabitants, the existence of conservation units can significantly contribute to mitigate these effects? To answer the question, the general objective is to analyze whether the existence of conservation units can influence the local thermal dynamics. Specific objectives are: a) identify the use, occupation and transformations of the landscape in the aforementioned neighborhoods in the years 1985 and 2019; b) characterize the temperature history over a 30-year interval. The accomplishment of the work is based on visits to the field to ratify bibliography, produce video/photo record with Drone; collect data from temperature measurements by mobile transect and socializing/conversations with subjects who participate in the daily life of the APAs, at the municipal environment secretariat (SEMAM) and at schools selected as support, to help in understanding the local perception of variability and the use and occupation of the surroundings and in the area of the UCs. For a better understanding of the results obtained in the field, maps were made on the history of use and occupation (between 1985 and 2019) and thermal variability (between 1992 and 2022). Both processed in the Quantum GIS software, with rasters obtained at the USGS/NASA with the Landsat 8 and Landsat 5 satellites. of urban areas around the ReBio buffer zone and in the APA. It was also verified the attenuation of the areas of pastures, agriculture and reduction of the vegetal coverage inside the APA Tinguá and in the Vila de Cava neighborhood. In ReBio Tinguá, there was an increase in vegetation cover within the limits of the reserve and in its buffer area in the Tinguá neighborhood. This cartography indicates a possible increase in population density, which coincides with what was found in fieldwork and in local reports, indicating a seasonal population fluctuation promoted by tourism/leisure in the UCs and the arrival of more residents, corroborated by official information from the city hall which point to an increase in the urban area and population growth over the period studied. The cartography of thermal variability, between 1992 and 2022, points to a variation in the average temperature between the neighborhoods studied over the years. Being able to demonstrate that the maintenance of the APA Tinguá in the area, generated an average temperature reduction between 9°C and 10°C, leaving temperatures that oscillated between 40°C and 42°C, for averages that currently oscillate between 31°C and 35°C. It was also verified the maintenance of the temperature inside the Rebio Tinguá, and a decrease of the same in the limit between the UC and the urbanized areas. Thus, it was possible to perceive that the existence of green areas, including areas of environmental protection, are of great importance for the maintenance of thermal comfort in urbanized regions. These indications corroborate actions to implement climate and environmental monitoring stations, enabling future research and studies, information to support the social organization in the quest to maintain its quality of life and compliance with the competent bodies of actions in the planning and implementation of public policies that mitigate negative aspects related to the climate issue in the territory.
