SUMMARY:

The Tinguá Biological Reserve (REBIO) is an integrally protected area, whose use is restricted and limited only to research and environmental education, due to the categorization rules of the National System of Nature Conservation Units (SNUC). which establish principles and standards for the creation, implementation and management of conservation units. Located in 4 municipalities in the state of Rio de Janeiro, namely: Nova Iguaçu, Duque de Caxias, Miguel Pereira and Petrópolis, the history of creation of the UC is related to water since the time of the empire, due to the water collections that supply today part of Baixada Fluminense. Therefore, REBIO designs the beds of several rivers that are often polluted in the urban context. Given these assertions, this research seeks to propose environmental education practices with more efficient communication between the managing body of REBIO do Tinguá and the surrounding population, inserted in the context of the hydrosocial water cycle. So that they understand the importance of the paths that these waters take, from the natural to the social cycle, where they undergo anthropogenic changes. Bringing visibility to the social dynamics of water and also the importance of REBIO do Tinguá in preserving these sources. This concept emphasizes the importance of critically reading water, where it cannot be discovered solely in terms of its physical availability and distribution techniques but must be proven within a broader context of social relations and power. Following methodological paths, the research is developed in terms of what can be called exploratory analysis based on the conceptual theoretical framework and also on practices related to environmental education carried out at UC in the pre- and post-COVID-19 pandemic period. In addition to research, action and participant observation of group activities that are carried out at REBIO do Tinguá and the offer of pedagogical workshops with three schools in the immediate surrounding area.
