MATCHING PIECES TOGETHER: PATHS TOWARDS THE INTEGRATED MANAGEMENT OF CONSERVATION UNITS IN THE GERICINÓ-MENDANHA MASSIVE (RJ)
Conservation Unit Mosaic; Conservation Unit; Gericinó-Mendanha Massif.
Provided by the National System of Conservation Units, Mosaics of Conservation Units can be created when nearby, overlapping or juxtaposed Conservation Units (CU) carry out integrated and participatory management among themselves, which assists in the administration of territories and the protection of fauna and flora. Thus, the general objective of this research is to develop paths that enable the creation of integrated management between the Conservation Units present in the Gericinó-Mendanha Massif/RJ, the only one among the massifs in the City of Rio de Janeiro that is present in other municipalities of the metropolitan region. In this space there are, in total, eight UCs in different categories, groups and spheres of management, each at a different level of implementation. An overview of the potential and challenges of the aforementioned UCs was realized, as well as having its own management and management plan. This work is based on the dialectical approach and is primarily based on the concepts of territory, essential for the study and delimitation of UCs; public use, which varies between the different UC categories; and integrated management, one of the main points includes the applicability of Mosaics. Among the methodological paths we followed to identify, we mention fieldwork at UC to understand its particularities and interviews with managers based on Critical Discourse Analysis, which emphasize discourse as a social practice and as a transformer of reality. Given the diverse perspectives mentioned, it is expected to follow paths for the implementation of a Mosaic of Conservation Units in the Gericinó-Mendanha Massif so that the conservation of the territories is maintained and improved, helping in the environmental recovery so devastated present in this fragment of atlantic forest.
