 BENEFITS IN THE SURROUNDINGS OF VIA LIGHT, NOVA IGUAÇU - RJ

Urban afforestation is fundamental for the urban planning of cities, as it brings many benefits, contributing to improving air quality and the health of the population, reducing air pollution, improving the aesthetics of cities, social, economic and political benefits, etc. The general objective of this work is to analyze the characteristics of urban road afforestation planning and the importance it brings in contributing to aesthetic improvement and the benefits for the quality of life of people who work or live around Via Light in the municipality of Nova Iguaçu - RJ, in the Metropolitan Region of Rio de Janeiro (RMRJ). The specific objectives of the study are: assist in the study of urban road afforestation planning based on the theoretical framework in a conceptual and practical way; research how urban afforestation planning can benefit the surroundings of Via Light in the municipality of Nova Iguaçu; present the history of Via Light and the road afforestation in the center of Nova Iguaçu. In this work we use methodological procedures, namely: (a) qualitative research; (b) bibliographic; (c) descriptive and exploratory. Through the study analyzed in the theoretical framework on the characteristics of planning and maintenance in urban green areas, analysis of public data from Via Light, by the secretariat responsible for planning in the municipality's green areas, data will be collected through an interview with open questions in the structured script and carry out an analysis of bibliographic data and data relating to Via Light’s history. According to these results, the importance of some corrective and preventive actions to minimize impacts, such as planting and pruning, will be observed
