SUMMARY:

Agroecology is an important theme in the debate of the current socio-environmental crisis, gaining space in schools and ending up being inserted in society. In this context, the present research is justified by the need to know the origin and modes of production of the food we consume, and that food is a daily and mandatory task. As a general objective, the work aims to highlight the importance of Agroecology - as opposed to conventional agriculture - and also the need to incorporate such an approach in the school context of the urban context. The main theoretical bases are anchored in the collection of texts entitled "Dictionary of Agroecology and Education", published in 2021 in a partnership between the Joaquim Venâncio Polytechnic School of Health, Editora Expressão Popular and the Movement of Landless Rural Workers (MST) and in the work "Research-teaching: school communication in teacher training", organized by Heloísa Dupas Penteado and Elsa Garrido, published in 2010, among others. The methodology, of a qualitative nature, is aligned with the proposal of research-teaching, where the teaching knowledge is articulated with other knowledge and knowledge with a view to articulating theory and practice in the classroom. The following methodological paths were carried out: elaboration, realization and analysis of the answers to an online questionnaire aimed at geography teachers; expansion of the theoretical framework from the reading of reference works in the studied area and the analysis of collections and titles used in geography classes for the high school segment. Among the results, it is possible to highlight the perception that the theme is present in the didactic material, even with the need for a more critical and engaged approach.
