Corporate sustainability, Agribusiness, Territory, Environmental justice, BRF S.A.
This research aims to analyze the corporate sustainability of BRF S.A., considering its strategies, governance instruments, and socio-environmental commitments, based on a case study of the manufacturing unit located in the municipality of Seropédica (RJ), Brazil. The methodology adopted is based on a qualitative approach, including a bibliographic review on sustainable development, corporate sustainability, agribusiness, and territory, as well as documentary analysis of institutional reports and corporate policies released by the company, complemented by direct observation of the productive space. Partial results indicate that corporate sustainability is mobilized as a strategic element of governance and institutional legitimacy, being operationalized through environmental commitments, sustainability reports, and socio-environmental projects. However, the initial analysis reveals the existence of tensions between the institutional discourse of sustainability and local territorial dynamics, highlighting limits and contradictions in the materialization of these practices. It is preliminarily concluded that corporate sustainability in the agribusiness sector must be analyzed through its concrete territorial effects, considering the relationships between corporate strategies, economic development, and environmental justice.
