SUMMARY:

The teaching of Geography, like other sciences in school, relies heavily on visuality, which imposes significant barriers to the general learning of students with visual impairments. Given this scenario, this research aims to reflect on the inclusion of visually impaired students in Geography education in the Parque das Palmeiras community, located in the Palhada neighborhood in Nova Iguaçu. For practical purposes, the research investigates the use of tactile tabletop role-playing games as a didactic strategy and educational resource for teaching the concepts of Landscape and Place. The theoretical framework mobilizes a discussion among the authors Milton Santos, regarding critical perspectives on the concepts; Marcelo Lopes de Souza, with the perspective of spatial categories; and finally, it is grounded in Yi-Fu Tuan's humanistic geography to value phenomenology, topophilia, playfulness, and multisensory experience as essential elements for learning Geography, the concepts of Landscape and Place, and the understanding of the world. Additionally, the study dialogues with authors such as Pletsch and Glat to deepen the debate on inclusive education. Characterized by a qualitative action research approach, the investigation takes place at the Centro Integrado de Educação Pública 387 Hans Christian Andersen. It involves students from an educational module that seeks not only to include but also to accelerate the education of students who have experienced delayed academic development due to various personal and social issues. Furthermore, it aims to encompass how policies from the Political Pedagogical Project to current legislation, impact the application of teaching formats that foster inclusion.
