RISK ANALYSIS FOR FOREST FIRE AND SOCIAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL STUDY: CASE GERICINO MENDANHA, VERDENTE MESQUITA-RJForest Fire, Risk and Environmental Perception
Over the years the occurrence of forest fires has been gradual, it’s a result of many factors, may have a natural or anthropic origin. This type of event has a potential for high destruction and can lead to complex consequences and even human losses. Before that this paper has the goal to analyze the socio-environmental issues present in the Gericinó Mendanha Massif (Vertente Mesquita) and think about the point of view of the residents' perception facing the risk of Forest Fire. To start the process of socioenvironmental study, it’s necessary to research the physical characteristics of the area and consequently the massif, and the understanding of the process of land use and occupation of the Baixada Fluminense, where is located the city of Mesquita. Then, we will try to understand the variables that may be responsible for the occurrence of forest fires in the Massif and think about the environmental perception of the vulnerable population (residents near Massif area). To achieve these goals, it was necessary the following methodology, bibliographical research was required; Interviews with technicians working in my field of study. Further fieldwork was required in locations that were affected by the fires. To conclude, interviews with the population around the risk area and analysis of data generated from discursive textual analysis (Morais and Galliazzi, 2016).
