RESUMO:

The city of Queimados-RJ was created from an Industrial District and industries were a symbol of a development’s utopia to overcome backwardness and poverty. The economic growth of Queimados-RJ between 2007 and 2015 was exponential generating a “golden age” and placing the city as a model for the entire Baixada Fluminense. The revitalization of the Industrial District with the arrival of new factories and warehouses, Mayor Max Lemos's Urban Entrepreneurialism action (2009-2016), real estate and infrastructure investments, a process of metropolitan restructuring form the amalgam of this growth and complex set of contradictions. In this dissertation we will analyze the light of economic geography the basis of this “golden age”, its contradictions and the elements of its decline from 2016.
