RESUMO:

Nowadays, the presence of information technologies in every corner and nooks of everyday life is undeniable. More and more people are connected to the various media platforms. In the last decade we see the media of video games gaining exponential strength in the domestic market. The media of video games has consolidated rapidly and increasingly in people's daily lives, becoming a common and routine day-to-day leisure practice, occupying the time it once did not occupy as the round trip to work. However, understanding the demands of this new horizon to be researched, we emphasize the importance and need of geography in analyzing, understanding and sewing theses about this new thematic field. From this we perceive the potential existence in this language that unfolds as playful for new forms of spatial representation. Thus the games act in the same role as the cinema and music media, being able to illustrate, represent and propose a communication between processes and phenomena. The general objective of research is to analyze how video games are an important language that enhances the representation of geographic space in geographic education. The research plots a dialogue with Cultural Geography and the School and uses the qualitative research method, attached to the Case Study in the public school of Baixada Fluminense. The Minecraft video game was chosen because the main platforms of electronic games existing, being mobile, video games and computer, in addition, another factor that was decisive is the "creator" game mode that makes the player an asset Virtual landscape modeler, which makes the game a powerful didactic tool in the teaching and learning process. However, when idealizing how the activity will be applied we understand that the best way to use this resource is aligned via the pedagogy of projects in geography classes in elementary school.
