Living collectively: coliving as a new form of housing in Rio de Janeiro?
coliving; housing; Rio de Janeiro
The present research has as main objective to discover if coliving would be a new collective housing modality or just a type of aestheticization of the old “republics” made by the middle class. In addition, it seeks to discover whether coliving is characterized as part of the new general trend called the “sharing economy”, whether it is possible to differentiate it from other existing collective housing modalities and how this trend will look in the post-pandemic . For this, materialistic methodology with the support of definitions of urban habitat, housing in the urban context and collective housing will be used as a reference in this work. Thus, coliving will be interpreted not only as a new way of living presented by the real estate market, nor just as an individual option that is presented as collective, but as a result of a broader process of change in social, family and own relations home setting.
