SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT AND BUSINESS QUESTION: THE CASE OF THE FOREST OF CICUTA / CSN (VOLTA REDONDA-RJ)
Urban Forest ARIE of Cicuta. CSN. Sustainable development. Power. Territory.
This research seeks to understand the conflicts and power relations that surround the urban forest of Cicuta, a territory in dispute by agents of the fields of power, through the conflicts and challenges surrounding the socio-environmental-economic problems that conflate the Forest of Cicuta. To do so, it was necessary to recover the historical aspect of the industrial city, between CSN and its intrinsic relationship with the city of Volta Redonda, as well as the political and ideological construction of the controversial Sustainable Development in favor of economic growth. Resulting from an intense debate about Sustainable Development and the intense business activity in the city of Volta Redonda-RJ, using an (in) sustainable model, we demonstrate the case of the Urban Forest ARIE of Cicuta that seeks to meet the aspirations of a logic that is still in dispute, and which is not an isolated case, but which reveals to us a repetitive model of disconnection between economic interests and their respective care for the environment and society.
