Debates involving environmental issues are often expanded and easily inserted in the various scientific fields. In the present conjuncture, it is considered essential to enable discussions about this theme, because it directly influences the various types of relationships experienced in our society. In this context, we initiated a debate about the socio-environmental relations proposed by geography and developed the understanding of these relationships based on the analysis of the development of public use activities in conservation units (UC). For the totalitarian assimilation of the reality of natural spaces, we selected the Municipal Natural Park of Nova Iguaçu (PNMNI) as object of study. We affirm that the conservation units are natural spaces created with the objective of preserving and/or conserving the ecosystem elements that characterize them, thus, we seek to present the reality of these natural spaces in general, however, to present in more detail the experiences, research processes and experiences obtained in the PNMNI. Because it is a conservation unit, inserted in the park category, with its natural elements conserved and frequently used in different public use activities, the general objective is highlighted here: to evaluate the way in which the activities of use Public are held in the Municipal Natural Park of Nova Iguaçu (PNMNI) and analyze the impacts that these activities generate to water resources, in this case represented by the basin of the river Dona Eugênia. Through the phenomenological method proposed by Husserl (1859-1938), we seek to understand in what way occur as Public Use activities and the relations of users with the PNMNI water resources occur, identifying from then on whether this use compromises the Water Quality of the UC. For this, it is necessary to draw some methodological paths, among them: the realization of physicochemical and microbiological laboratory tests in the water of the PNMNI; Questionnaires applications with users of the natural space; and the evaluation and monitoring of public use management in parks (AMUP). We seek to understand the environmental perception of the PNMNI goers, to know, how they visualize the dynamics of the natural space; Identify the way in which public use activities occur within the UC; and how water quality is found as an ecosystem element of natural space. We emphasize that this debate is necessary, because we believe that the relationships and processes of conservation become positive, from the moment the user feels belonging to the place. Finally, we aimed to connect the results obtained through the laboratory analysis and the application of the questionnaires, to the theoretical-methodological discussions used throughout this work, thus offering proposals for the improvement of the UC and for the consolidation Public Use activities in the PNMNI.
